Stop The Bleed Class
Stop The Bleed Class
“Stop The Bleed” is an initiative to teach the public life-saving steps to help someone that is severely bleeding from an injury. Without intervention, uncontrolled bleeding can lead to death in a matter of minutes. With education and training, the general public can play an important role in preventing severe blood loss. The class is taught in a simplistic manner that anyone can understand the basics of bleeding control.
The class will include some of the following topics:
Locating and identifying uncontrolled bleeding
Pressure dressings
Hemostatic agents
Tourniquet use
This class will also have additional topics that will be beneficial to first responders. Topics such as:
Incident management
Self-aid and Buddy-aid
Management of patient after tourniquet application
This class will be taught at the Oceanside Fire District Training Facility. We would like to thank them in partnering with us in offering this class.
About the instructors:
Francis Faustino is a board-certified Family Physician, the co-founder, and the Chief Medical Officer of The Black 6 Project.
Joseph Zoleta is a NYS Paramedic, Marine Corps Veteran, and co-founder of The Black 6 Project.

Location: NYU Langone EMS- Long Island - 1000 Zeckendorf Blvd Suite A, Garden City, NY 11530
Cost: $50 per person. Includes individual suture kit for students to keep and practice on.
After a natural disaster, injuries sustained by the community will require immediate. Many of those injuries may require the closure of a wound. This class will cover the basics of suturing in a field setting and the management of the wound long term where access to further can be prolonged.

About the instuctor:
Dr. Jason Chiu is an Army veteran that served from 2004-2009. He deployed to Iraq from 2006-2008. He currently resides in Queens, NY, and works for Mt. Sinai Health System as a surgeon. He also runs Sutton Medical, a direct care medical practice focusing on weight loss, wellness, and dermatologic surgeries.

Personal Protective Combatives is offering a free self-defense class to the AAPI community.
Stop Asian Hate Self Defense & Situational Awareness Class
In partnership with the Philippine Consulate General of New York, this online class will be taught virtually to the Asian community in an effort to help keep its members safe. In New York City alone, anti-Asian hate crimes have risen 361% from 2020 to 2021 with the majority of the victims being elderly and female members of the Asian community.
The Black 6 Project will be giving online instruction on basic self-defense tactics that can help reduce the chances of harm.

About the instructor:
Ryan Enriquez is a Marine Corps Veteran whose family originates from Cebu City. While serving in the Marines, he would earn a green belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. Ryan has been studying martial arts for over 20 years and earned his Black Belt in Shoto-Kan Karate in 1995. His desire to explore more of his culture and background brought him to study Filipino Martial Arts under Sensei Sonny May. For the past few years, he has been training in Filipino Kali/Escrima and edged weapons in Jamaica, Queens. His profession as a paramedic in New York City is what brought him to become a volunteer in The Black 6 Project.

Fundraising Event at BrewSA Brewing Company
Join us on March 11th, 2022 at BrewSA Brewing Company for a night of American craft beer, food, and raffle prizes.
$40 per person includes unlimited drinks from 7pm-10pm and food.
We will also be collecting medical supplies for Ukraine and will be donated to St. Michael’s Ukrainian church. Please bring trauma and wound cleaning supplies.
Weekend Warrior - Outdoor Hike
The "Weekend Warrior" events from The Black 6 Project are geared towards improving your mental health, learning skills in leadership, and teamwork.
Black 6 invites all first responders of different backgrounds from EMS, law enforcement, and fire departments to a day outdoors. Get out of the city and the grind and step outside into some fresh air, picturesque foilage, and community.
On November 27th, 2021, we'll be heading to Harriman State Park to hike the Big Hill and Jackie Jones Hike. This 4.1 mile loop is good for beginners.
The hike can be completed in approximately 3-4 hours. Please bring any food and supplies to last you throughout the duration. For volunteers looking to improve their endurance for any upcoming Black 6 Missions, the suggested rucksack weight is 25lbs.
Afterward, we plan on getting food and drinks at Gentle Giant Brewing Company in Pearl River, NY. They are not a partner/sponsor of this event. After hike plan is tentative on their operating hours and availability of space.
Annual Fundraiser
Join us for our annual fundraiser held at Portable Provisions in New York City. Help us raise awareness and funding to help continue our mission at The Black 6 Project. We’ll share future projects and stories of previous medical missions and disaster relief deployments.
