“Stop The Bleed” is an initiative to teach the public life-saving steps to help someone that is severely bleeding from an injury. Without intervention, uncontrolled bleeding can lead to death in a matter of minutes. With education and training, the general public can play an important role in preventing severe blood loss. The class is taught in a simplistic manner that anyone can understand the basics of bleeding control.
The class will include some of the following topics:
Locating and identifying uncontrolled bleeding
Pressure dressings
Hemostatic agents
Tourniquet use
This class will also have additional topics that will be beneficial to first responders. Topics such as:
Incident management
Self-aid and Buddy-aid
Management of patient after tourniquet application
About the instructors:
Francis Faustino is a board-certified Family Physician, the co-founder, and the Chief Medical Officer of The Black 6 Project.
Joseph Zoleta is an NYS Paramedic, Marine Corps Veteran, and co-founder of The Black 6 Project.
